Simply put this is a Cowes restaurant is an Institution (Located in the central high street - turn left out of the Red Jet terminal). In Summer booking is essential. Dishes range from a very attractive three course menu (Try the fishcakes) lunchtime menu at around £12.95 (rising to a still modest £16.95 in the evenings) through to whole lobsters at around £20+. Excellent wine menu. Large tables in the back room seating 8-10 people make for a good atmosphere. Great choice of seafoodcaught locally off the Isle of Wight. They also do fantastic steaks / chicken for those who aren't into Fish. Ideally suited for adults / children 12+. Cowes week booking is essential even for lunch. They also can provide lunches for yacht crews (why buy from Somerfield?) / catering to private parties / corporate events. Open all year round except early January. Closed Xmas day & New Years Day. Red Duster
(Located in the central high street - to the right of the Red Jet exit) - Ever changing menu of locally caught seafood. Average cost of lunch / evening meal for 3 courses is higher than Murrays at around £20-25 per head. That said the food is of good quality and exceptional variety. Booking is recommended in Summer. Ideally suited to adults / children 12+. Open from March to October (approximately). The restaurant like Murrays is an old pub (At one time Cowes had over 50!!!!!), however it is better suited to smaller groups of 2-6 people. Nice for an intimate dinner. Cowes week booking essential. Cafe Mozart / Restaurant Amadeus
(Located approximately half way between the Island Sailing Club and the Red Jet). A Dual Personality? If so it's one of the best we've come across! (Located in Cowes central high street) French patisseries by day and fine english / european cuisine in the evenings - Definitely the best place to go for morning coffee and most importantly french patisseries! The range of deserts & cakes surpasses any other Cowes restaurant so if you have a sweet tooth then you should definitely try this one. This restaurant is ideally suited for families and couples alike. In the evening this restaurant transfers into one of Cowes most romantic locations serving a good range of English & European dishes. They also have plenty of extra seating upstairs - another local tip worth remembering at busy times such as Cowes week, when downstairs appears full. Open all year round except Jan - Feb. (Located towards the top of Shooter's Hill - Chain Ferry End of Town). Open all year round. Booking advisable in Season. Ideally suited for adults / children age 12+. Excellent food particularly the Game dishes which are fresh and truelly excellent. Average price for dinner for two including wine £. Cheaper menu available at lunchtime in season. Additional seating upstairs. You can book the whole restaurant should your party be large enough. Not the cheapest in Cowes, although it should be noted that the hard core Cowes commuter club hold their XMas part here every year (30 people, 85 bottles of wine, 3 bottles of port = 30 large hangovers, that should say it all!). Db's
(Located towards the Parade end of town). Small but perfectly formed, booking essential in season as it is Cowes smallest restaurant. That said the food & service are accordingly very good. Hidden away and you'll miss it if you blink! Would benefit from the canopy being wound back during the day, yet in the evening has one of Cowes most romantic setting due to the compact nature of the restaurant. Definitely a place to go for ensuring discrete conversation be it business or pleasure! Not suited for families. Average cost for two people including wine £ 55-60. Tel: 01983-291714
